Vermont’s Lakes

We had the best time kayaking this weekend.  On Saturday we went out to the nearby Marshfield reservoir and had a great swim.  That’s pretty typical for us when we go there.  Atypical for us was seeing a majestic bald eagle perched above in the nearby spruce tree.   It seemed maybe this eagle also come over to say goodbye as we were heading to the boat landing to leave.  We enjoyed seeing it again, but it didn’t seem that the loons did from their frenzied dashes in circles and loony calls.

Sunday we went a bit further to Caspian Lake which has the clearest water in a lake one will find.  While we didn’t see an eagle at Caspian, we did see a number of loons.  And of course we had another very enjoyable swim half way through.  If you like to kayak but don’t want to or can’t bring yours, or don’t have one,  not to fear, they’re available for rent during the summer at another of our favorite places to kayak and swim—the Waterbury reservoir.    Happy (dog) paddling!
